Ethernet device server (RS-232/485) with I/O (8/4 relay contacts). Free Windows virtual serial port included. Industrial model, fits on a DIN rail.
I/O Controller ER84a is an industrial converter that connects a serial port (RS-232/485), 8 dry contact inputs and 4 relay outputs to a LAN (Telnet protocol).
The serial port can be redirected over an IP network to Windows as a VSP (Virtual Serial Port). This makes it easy to connect, for example, a remote barcode reader – it appears connected to e.g. COM17. HW VSP utility is included for free. It is a multiport Windows NT service based application.
A typical application is connecting a RS-232 serial printer to IP, accessing remote dry contact inputs (door contacts, buttons) over IP or controlling a remote relay output for resetting a printer or activating alarm.
Other applications include connecting a button over an IP network to a remote relay output. The latency (transmission delay) is about 200 ms. Two ER84a units can connect 4 digital inputs to 4 relay outputs, and also connect the RS-232 serial ports.
- Ethernet: RJ45 (10BASE-T)
- Configuration: Telnet
- Inputs: 8 digital (dry contact) inputs
- Outputs: 4 digital outputs (relay, max 50V)
- Interface: 1 serial RS-232/485 port
- Box-2-Box mode: Two I/O Controller units can be connected against each other over the network
- M2M protocols: Telnet, TCP Server, TCP Client/Server
- Support for programmers: HWg SDK
- HWg IPRC cmd utility: Command-line utility for remote control of outputs (Windows and Linux)
- HW VSP software: Virtual serial port for Windows (NT service). Supports up to 64 remote serial ports.
- Advantages: Native support in the “HW VSP” application – the world's most popular virtual serial port for Windows.
